Every Screen is a Unique Snowflake

Prints and originals may vary from what you see on your screen. Every screen display is different, some are more true than others, and there may be some variations in tone, colour or brightness to prints or originals compared to what you see in life. Even different kinds of paper will affect the ultimate look. Accordingly, Birth of Pluto provides no guarantee that prints or originals will look or feel exactly the same as they appear on screen.

Also, while I take all photos of originals in natural light and do my best to capture the piece as accurately as possible, sometimes the natural light will give a slight warm or cool tinge to the look of the original work. (It's really hard to capture art just as it looks in life!) If in doubt about the colours and tones of a specific original piece, don't hesitate to reach out prior to making your order, and we can send through more photos for you to assist if needed. Any additional photos or information provided about an item for sale are designed to assist but are not a guarantee.

If you are local to the Inner West or Sutherland Shire, depending on the piece we may also be able to provide an in person viewing prior to purchase.

Originals and Prints

If you purchase an original painting, you can expect occasional pencil marks, bits of exposed canvas, random 'I don't know what that is' marks, some casual specs of dust, even a little paintbrush hair sneaking in there, random background layers coming through, varnish blobs, and drips and drops of paint. This is all part of what makes it an original. For paper pieces, sometimes this means the edges are a little rough, or there may be a little surface bump from water usage or a little smudgey moment. These are all part of the journey of creating a painting. Please note that originals are sold in their current state. No refunds will be issued on any of these or similar bases. If you are not sure whether an original is suitable for you, please reach out for further pictures and/or a local viewing if you are based in the Inner West or Sutherland Shire (NSW). 

I typically don't like to clean up the prints too much either - as far as I'm concerned, sometimes removing any little marks take away the authenticity of the work. 

Originals on stretched canvas are usually varnished and usually include wire or other mechanisms attached on the back, so they are ready to hang. That said, please ensure that any hanging mechanisms that come with any Birth of Pluto item are safe, appropriate to your circumstances, and tested in your space prior to hanging permanently, as Birth of Pluto will not be liable for any issues, damage, or loss in this respect.

Prints may be cropped or contain larger borders or extended backgrounds to accommodate the chosen print size. We will usually include a picture indicating how the piece will be cropped to a specific print size, but this is not a guarantee and may be subject to change at the absolute discretion of Birth of Pluto.

Prints and originals do not come framed. Some originals may be framed at an additional cost to the collector.

Print finishes

A4 and 12"x12" prints and some smaller prints are usually printed on Ultra Matt 250GSM paper.

Prints larger than A4 are usually printed on Ilford Smooth Pearl 310GSM paper.

Both of these papers have been chosen for their bright white base that suits bold work, and their photographic-looking and feeling finish.

Birth of Pluto may, at its absolute discretion and without notice, change components of products including but not limited to the style, texture, weight or other aspect of the finish of the printing paper used to produce prints, at any time. This includes the composition of an image or availability of any product, which, subject to Birth of Pluto's absolute discretion, may change at any time.

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, processing and shipping times may be impacted. All timelines provided are a guide and not a guarantee.

Shipping costs

Shipping costs are at the following standard rates across Australia:

Prints: Standard $9

Print orders over $50: Free shipping across Australia

Please note that all prints are custom made to order. Accordingly, while most will be sent within 5 days from ordering, print orders can take up to 7 days before being shipped. Shipping times for custom print orders will be advised to the collector on a case by case basis.

Original artworks on canvas may take up to 10 days before being shipped. The cost of shipping for original artworks is specified in each piece's individual product page.

Shipping costs outside Australia: 

Print orders to New Zealand: $25 AUD

Print orders outside of Australia and New Zealand: $35 AUD 

Please note that original pieces on canvas are not currently available for shipping outside of Australia. We use international standard parcel post shipping, so it will usually take 4-6 weeks to arrive. (This is an average, and not guaranteed timeframe.)

Birth of Pluto is not responsible for any additional fees relating to delivery outside of Australia, e.g. customs or duty fees. The responsibility for these sits with the customer, and you may (depending on the country of delivery) be required to pay additional fees in accordance with national or state customs/duty requirements in order to collect your package. Birth of Pluto is not responsible for these duties, taxes and/or fees. If these charges are billed to Birth of Pluto by the carrier, we reserve the right to charge your credit card on file without notice.

Insurance is not included in the price of shipping and handling. If you wish to add insurance please email us prior to making your purchase to discuss feasibility and additional costs. 

Orders placed using a credit card with an international billing address will go through a process of fraud verification, which may delay the delivery time of your order. All international orders must have the same billing and shipping address.

Shipping Pickup

If the item is not received/picked up by the client and sent back to us by the shipping company, the customer will be charged any fees incurred to Birth of Pluto. The Customer will be charged an additional shipping fee to re-send the item.

Packing information

Prints larger than A3 are packed with love and typically arrive to you rolled in a tube, ready to be unfurled and presented proudly in your home. If you order more than one print, they will usually arrive in the same tube.

Prints A3 and smaller are also packed with love, usually in a rigid mailer or slim box. Originals on Canvas are lovingly protected with bubble wrap, and carefully placed into a box for shipping. Originals on Paper (A3 or below) are protected with a sleeve and backing board. They incur the same shipping prices as prints.

While it is usually me packing orders, sometimes we may have them dropshipped direct from the printers, or sent through a courier that also packs the work, so the above packing descriptions are the general rule but not guaranteed. 

Delivery

Once an order is given to the delivery carrier, Birth of Pluto will not be liable for any damage or loss incurred during delivery, nor any late or missing deliveries. In the case of prints, sometimes prints may be dropshipped directly from a printing company, so while we will do our best to make sure everything goes to plan, Birth of Pluto does not guarantee any late or missing deliveries, and will not be liable for damages or losses incurred during delivery. 

If the courier/carrier has documented the parcel as delivered, and the customer has not received the delivery, this is to be taken up by the customer with the delivery company. If the customer inputs incorrect order information on their online order, or otherwise provides incorrect, inaccurate, inconsistent or vague information to Birth of Pluto relating to their order, including but not limited to their address, name, or company, Birth of Pluto will not be liable for any consequent loss or damage incurred, including parcels delivered to the wrong address. Birth of Pluto may try to assist with investigations of lost or damaged parcels where appropriate, but will not issue refunds or store credit for any of the instances listed in this paragraph.

While we do our best to get your order out to you as quickly as we can, shipping and delivery times are estimates only, and not guaranteed. 

If you receive a damaged parcel, please clearly document the incident with photos and/or a video, and reach out within 48 hours of receipt: If so, we can then discuss appropriate next steps. Birth of Pluto reserves the sole right and absolute discretion to determine an appropriate response in these instances.

Returns

All sales are final. No refunds, credit or exchange will be offered for change of mind, so please choose carefully! If you are not sure about a piece and would like some further information, reach out to us prior to discuss. 

All items sold in person at markets are sold in their current condition and "as is", so please ensure you are happy with the item prior to purchasing.

If, at Birth of Pluto's absolute discretion, a refund or exchange is offered to the customer for any reason, the customer is required to cover the cost of shipping to return the item being refunded, and the cost of shipping to cover the new item being sent (if applicable). 

Sales

Any discounts applied at face to face markets are not applicable online. Any online sales or discounts are not transferable to face to face markets. Birth of Pluto reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to adjust a sale offering without notice. Sales may also be subject to stock availability or some other condition at Birth of Pluto's absolute discretion. Sale discounts apply to the specified sales channel and timeframe only, and cannot be applied retrospectively.

Birth of Pluto, at its absolute discretion, reserves the right to increase pricing of any product at any time and without notice. 

IP

Birth of Pluto asserts the right to all copyright and intellectual property of the artwork and imagery. Images cannot be copied, sold, or otherwise distributed, online or otherwise, without Birth of Pluto's prior express consent.

Disputes

In the event of a dispute, Birth of Pluto maintains the right to choose the method of resolution based on the legal options available. The terms of this agreement and any disputes relating to it will be governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
